Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday Morning at 9:30 on AM590

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!

This week, Ed is still analyzing the first Republican primary debate; like many people, he’s seen the replays and has additional insight after hearing the candidates again. Combine that with the barrage of post-debate feuds among the candidates and the moderators (like the one between Donald Trump and Megyn Kelly, which was everywhere this week!), and it results in lots of new perspective. Ed analyzes the debate deeper than ever this week, and you don’t want to miss it!

It starts with the beginning of the debate, with the now-notorious “hand raising” question. When Trump was the only one to raise his hand and was questioned afterward, he delivered a long-winded answer that resulted in his first jab at Ms. Kelly. Ed has thoughts on when Trump “should have stopped,” which would have helped curb some of the backlash against him this week; tune in to find out where it was. You’ll also hear what Ed calls Trump’s “moron answer” of the debate, which is a sharp contrast to his support for Trump before. If your opinion of Trump changed after the debate, tune in to hear someone who agrees with you!

Ed also replays Dr. Ben Carson’s debate answers, all of which he calls “perfect.” When Carson says he supports enhanced interrogation techniques for terrorists and then says “but I wouldn’t necessarily be broadcasting what we’re going to do,” in addition to other comments that show he does indeed have foreign policy savvy, Ed is on board all the way. If you’re a supporter of Carson of you aren’t quite sure if you should be, tune in to The Main Event this week to hear his positions from a fresh perspective.

Ed also has thoughts on Senator Marco Rubio, declared by many to be the “star” of the debate. Ed isn’t impressed, saying Rubio’s rant on Hillary Clinton was “completely unnecessary.” But he likes Rubio’s answer on immigration to a point, and like many people opposed to the Common Core educational standards, is satisfied with Rubio’s stance. “I agree with his answer there,” Ed says. “I think Rubio did well, but I don’t think he elevated himself to superstardom.” Ed’s position is that voters who answer the polls aren’t necessarily the same people who actually vote in the primary – a position that many political analysts have adopted recently.

Next it’s on to Jeb Bush, who gave what Ed calls a “weak answer” when asked if “knowing what we know how,” would he have made the same decision his brother did regarding going to war in Iraq. “They found weapons of mass destruction, buried in Iraq and they also found them in Syria,” Ed says. “They never mention that now.” In fact, Ed doesn’t like the “knowing what we know now” question at all, and it’s constantly being asked of the candidates as some kind of litmus test.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg; Ed also has insight on the debate performances of Mike Huckabee (“honest and well-prepared”), Ted Cruz (“perfect answers”) and Scott Walker (“strong and believable”) – all glowing reviews compared to John Kasich, who Ed believes is a Democrat in disguise, and Rand Paul (“This would have been a great speech in 1945”). Tune in for debate analysis by a local host who knows his stuff!
