Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national, regional and local current events, as well as trends in the local real estate market. Ed delivers intelligent radio with unique, witty and irreverent flair.

This week, Ed kicks off the Christmas season by discussing the great money-making opportunities that are possible during this busy time of year. As one of the most successful mortgage lenders in the Inland Empire, Ed shares this expert opinion: It’s time to get out there and find a home now, because eventually, the market will go down and interest rates will go up. “If you can’t afford your dream home, buy a house anyway,” he says. “Because in a few years when the market goes back up, you can sell it and make a ton of money.” You don’t have to wait until you can afford your dream house; you can buy a house in your price range, and use it to your advantage as an investment opportunity.

What’s going on in the country this week? Nothing much, except for more racially-stoked demonstrations against law enforcement – and as Ed stated in this op-ed last week, he believes it’s getting old. On this week’s show, you’ll hear audio from Hannity on the Fox News Channel, wherein Rep. Eleanor Holmes-Norton (D-DC) tells the host that the evidence presented to the grand jury in the Michael Brown case “is not my concern,” and that despite her vocal stance on the issue, she never read the evidence at all. The congresswoman then went on to say, “My interest is not in what happened; my interest is in what should happen.” Ed agrees with Hannity, who asked her why she continues to publicly advance “a narrative that has been proven false,” and a narrative that is clearly fanning the flames of racial tension – all predicated on false information, such as the “hands up, don’t shoot” mischaracterization. He asked, “You’re not concerned about the truth?”

On this week’s show, you can hear the viral sensation on YouTube featuring Fredrick Wilson II, a young African-American man who brilliantly admonished his peers to “take some responsidamnbility” for the role they play in relations with the police – and a hilarious, 10 year-old sketch from the great Chris Rock that is more relevant than ever today. After this week’s show, Ed will put the race relation topics to bed in anticipation of better news throughout the Christmas season.

The Main Event wraps up this week with an inspirational talk on the spirit of giving, with Ed sharing some great stories about the needy and deserving people he, his family and his company have helped at Christmas throughout the years: foster children, cancer-stricken adults and others. It may inspire you to do something similar this year.
