Workers get an early jump on census

It’s not yet 2020, but preparations are underway for the 2020 Census.

Some workers are canvassing neighborhoods, in the Inland Empire and nationwide, checking addresses for next year’s count, according to a statement posted on San Bernardino County’s website.

The census, conducted every 10 years, is important to cities and counties because it helps determine funding for improvement projects. All Inland residents are asked to cooperate with anyone who presents a Census I.D. and wants to ask them questions.

The San Bernardino County and Riverside County boards of supervisors have formed the Inland Empire Complete Count Committee, which will work with the public and private sector to ensure as accurate a local count as possible, according to the statement.
