Palm Springs is asking for volunteers to serve on the city’s recently established Equity & Social Justice Committee.
Anyone who lives, works or attends school in the city is eligible to sit on the panel, which was formed in August after the city council declared “systemic racism” a public health crisis, according to a statement on the city’s website.
City officials plan to implement annual mandatory equality and bias-prevention training for city staff, while encouraging such training among residents, community partners, grantees, vendors and contractors.
The ad hoc committee will help implement those goals and report to the council on its progress, It will include two council members, two members of the Human Rights Commission, and members appointed by the council.
