Construction has started on a 598,000-square-foot industrial project in Fontana.
Sierra Lakes Commerce Center is being built on 27.5 acres on Sierra Avenue about half a mile north of the Foothill Freeway, according to a statement released Wednesday by Trammell Crow Co. and Clarion Partners LLC, the building’s developers.
The project, which is expected to open during the first quarter of 2018, will include about 2,000 square feet of office space.
“We are thrilled to once again be partnering with Clarion to deliver another world-class building to the Inland Empire,” said Tom Bak, senior managing director of Trammell Crow’s Southern California-Newport Beach office. “Sierra Lakes Commerce Center’s proximity to the nation’s two largest ports and immediate access to Interstate(s) 10 and 15, continues to attract some of the biggest companies in the world.”
The speculative project will be in a part of the Inland Empire sometimes called the Interstate 210 Corridor. Amazon, Under Armour, Fed Ex, Target and LG Electronics are among the major corporations that have logistics operations in that area, according to the statement.
