The city on Oct. 19th sent its “HQ2 Strike Team” to Amazon’s Seattle headquarters to let officials there know how serious Moreno Valley is about landing the project, according to a statement on the city’s website.
The strike team delivered a “special edition” of the Washington Post to Amazon officials, detailing how Moreno Valley had beaten out the 237 other entities bidding on the project.
The Washington Post is owned and published by Jeff Bezos, chief executive officer of Amazon.
“Moreno Valley is the perfect fit for Amazon’s new headquarters,” Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez said in the statement. “As they view the exciting multi-media package assembled by our HQ2 Strike Team, Amazon will quickly realize how much our community has to offer. We’ve impressed them before, having already attracted two Amazon facilities to our great city.”
Amazon officials are expected to announce their decision next year.
