Nicole Dabbs, chair of the kinesiology department at Cal State San Bernardino, has been appointed president-elect of the Southwest Regional Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine.
Dabbs, who is also a professor in the department, began a three-year term late last year as president-elect, president and past president, according to a statement on the university’s website.
“Your first year is president-elect, your second year is president, and then your third year is past president,” Dabbs said in the statement.
Dabbs will spend her first year planning the chapter’s annual meeting. She will also recruit new board members, secure sponsorships and partnerships, and ensure the region’s goals align with the national American College of Sports Medicine mission.
The Southwest region has approximately 1,300 professionals and students throughout Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah, according to the statement.
